In November of 2016, by the slimmest of margins, we elected Donald J. Trump as our 44th President. A “businessman” with absolutely no political experience, Trump was elected under highly suspicious and incredulous circumstances. Strong suspicion became certainty of Russian interference, a forceful push against immigration with “build a wall” becoming a campaign slogan along with “Lock Her Up”, gerrymandering of election districts, and lies – a whole bunch of lies. In the end, only about 36% of the population voted for him, but those votes were in key “winner take all” states and were just enough to take those states. This was despite a 3,000,000 popular vote advantage for Hillary Clinton.

Scott’s practice can best be described as a “marriage” of traditional Financial Planning and Socially Responsible Investing (SRI). Clients benefit from sound, proven, and comprehensive financial strategies as the foundation for managing their financial affairs. Once this planning strategy is in place, Scott works with his clients to help them identify their social concerns to make sure they are incorporated into the management of their investments.

Scott’s practice is a boutique. It caters to those discerning clients who want top quality advice and service coupled with personal attention.  He does not try to be all things to all people, but rather concentrates his background and talents on very specific areas: comprehensive Financial Planning and Socially Responsible Investing.

30 + Years Experience

Scott has over 30 years of experience in the financial services and energy conservation/alternative energy fields.  After two years as a broker’s broker on Wall Street, Scott then spent 8 years in the fields of energy conservation and alternative energy.  More than just about saving energy, this work involved creative finance and community development, which are the roots of Scott’s social consciousness.  Scott has “walked the walk” with regards to working with finance as well as social concerns.  

Scott has worked with clients through all phases of finance and investment cycles, including some of the most volatile periods in history.  Investment performance went through ups and downs just like the markets, but by using a proper diversification approach, his clients weathered the storms. Scott knows that while performance is important, ultimately Financial Planning and Investing is about guiding and positioning his clients so they are able to accomplish their cherished dreams, while at the same time helping all of us to move to a more sustainable future.

For the past 20 years, Scott has served clients as a Financial Planner, earning his CFP® in 1990, and the Accredited Investment Fiduciary™, or AIF®, in 2004. Scott’s professional planning advice is consistent with the guidelines promulgated by the Board of Certified Financial Planners. His financial plans typically cover the 7 areas of financial planning in a thorough, comprehensive, and detailed manner.  With regards to investments, Scott and First Affirmative Financial Network, LLC, manage them as a fiduciary, allowing his clients to feel comfortable with the joint commitment to their well-being.  Scott conducts business on a fee-for-service basis.
